{Printable Valentine Art + Anything "LOVE" Toppers}

Resim
This dashing young man wants to be  your V a l e n t i n e ! And guess what.... he's free! I have a huge selection of vintage photographs and this one has always been a favorite of mine. I enhanced him a bit, turned him a pinkish, sepia-toned color and added the word LOVE.  That's what he's bringing to you in his tiny mailbag, by the way. I took this image (above) and printed it on white cardstock and stuck it in an 8x10 frame.  Instant Valentine art! You can do the same. Save the image to your computer and make anything you want:  frame it, make it into mini-Valentine cards or tags, etc. While you are copying and printing, add these to your queue as well: Anything "LOVE" Toppers!  Anything (not just cupcakes) can be topped with a sweet, little Valentine LOVE.  We, at Peppermint Plum, are trying to get our households to eat healthier this year.  If you are as well, then these are perfect. There's no rule that says Valentine's Day h...

{Winter-White Wreath}

Resim
Yarn wreaths are all the rage in craftblogland, so I decided to try making one. I went for a white wintery look to hang on the mirror above my mantel.  I got my foam wreath form from Michael's. They only had one in stock and it was broken, so my cheapskate alter ego kicked in and I politely asked for  insisted on getting a great discount...and guess what? I got it for 80% off! Never hurts to try!  Never-mind that I was possibly that poor store clerk's worst nightmare of a customer for a few minutes . I got home and pulled out my trusty duct tape and it was as good as new. Oh, how I love getting a good deal :) Here is a great  tutorial  if you are interested in making a yarn wreath. The only thing I did differently is wrap several layers of batting around the foam wreath to make it fatter. I cut the batting into long 6-inch-wide strips and wrapped it around and around until it had the thickness I wanted, and then I wrapped the yarn on top of the b...

{Cabinet Door Tray}

Resim
I've been wanting a great tray to use as a centerpiece for my dining room table. I envisioned something long and black with great handles. So when I found this cabinet door in the as-is/salvage section at IKEA I knew exactly what to use it for! And check out the great price! It is in perfect condition and just the right shade/sheen of black that I wanted. I love IKEA. Every time I visit family in Utah or California I have to stop in for a "quick" little jaunt around the place. Yeah right...if you've ever been to Ikea you know you can't spend less than 2 hours there because they trap you in!  I bought some wooden wheels at Hobby Lobby to use as the "feet." I spray painted them black and added some felt pads to the bottom so they won't scratch up my table. I used Liquid Nails to glue the feet on the bottom of the tray.  I found these handles at Lowes...they're kind of pewter-ish. I drilled and screwed in the handles....well, actually, my very handy...

{Printable Valentine Tags}

Resim
I found a scan of a vintage fabric or ribbon label and I thought if I doctored it up a bit it would make a perfect Valentine treat tag!  I removed the portrait from the middle and tinted the whole thing red. It now reads "Happy Valentine's Day!" in the center.  I chose that direct, simple sentiment so that these tags can be used for boys or girls. No more wondering if you accidentally gave the boy you like (or don't like) the one card in the stack that says "I Love You" or "Kiss Me" or "I choo-choo-choose you!" A simple "Happy Valentine's Day!" works for everyone. These tags can be printed any size you like.  I printed mine so they would fit perfectly on top of a conversation heart box (which I found in a 4-pack at the Dollar Tree... go stock up!) They can also be stapled or tied to a glassine envelope (or a homemade version made with parchment paper).  I love candies in glassine bags... you can see the candy right inside!  ...

{Chocolate Fondue}

Resim
This chocolate fondue recipe is simple to make and tastes like heaven!  Really... try it.  You won't be disappointed. {CHOCOLATE FONDUE} 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 can sweetened condensed milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 cup cream (use cream, not milk -- milk will harden the chocolate mixture) Mix all of the ingredients together in a fondue pot, a small crock pot or a saucepan.  Warm and stir until all ingredients are mixed well and the chocolate is melted and creamy. It's fun to pour it into individual serving bowls instead of leaving it in the big pot.  We used small ice-cream waffle bowls. Perfectly sized, and once the chocolate is gone -- you can eat the bowl! We dipped apples, bananas, mini-clementine orange slices, animal cookies, cubed crusty French bread and Nutter-Butter cookies. Mmm hmmm.... delicious! Enjoy! ...linking to...
